This site will continue to grow over time. My wife's site (spanish only) contains a lot of pictures.
This is my personal website. It contains a random mix of English and Spanish, and links to some of my work.

I was upgraded! Since December 2008 and getting my PhD, I am an Assistant Professor at The University of Texas' School of Health Information Sciences at Houston. It's the only school completely dedicated to biomedical informatics, and a fun place to be if you like this kind of things.

This page is a small, informal CV. I am an MD (non-practicing), MS in Health Informatics, and PhD Candidate at the University of Texas School of Health Information Sciences at Houston. My research focus is on information retrieval for biomedical informatics. I also teach for our Foundations of Health Informatics course.
My first-author publications can be found on MEDLINE:
A day in the life of PubMed: analysis of a typical day's query log (yes, I am a Beatles fan)
Using incomplete citation data for MEDLINE results ranking (presented at AMIA)
Using hit curves to compare search algorithm performance
I have also collaborated in other papers:
A Model for Determining Staffing Levels for Acute-care Settings
Using citation data to improve retrieval from MEDLINE
Ownership of computers and abilities for their use in a sample of Chilean medical students
I recently (September 2007) gave an invited talk at the Hospital Luis Calvo Mackenna. Here are my slides (in Spanish).
I just started a spanish-language Health Informatics blog at www.informaticasalud.cl
